7th RLC Campus Launched

On May 20th, 2014, a new RLC Campus was launched at the Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai. This Campus is the seventh worldwide and the first in South Asia. To create synergies between TISS’ research, teaching and policy engagement and the work of the RLC, the new campus will cooperate closely with the students of the MA programme in Social Work in Livelihoods and Social Entrepreneurship. The Campus envisages to involve graduate students in research activities of South Asian Laureates and to annually give Right Livelihood Medals to the student who has best incorporated a Laureate’s knowledge and concepts into his or her research. Furthermore, a “Right Livelihood Scholar in Residency Program” will enable Laureates to stay at TISS for a short period to teach, write and share their experiences with TISS’ students and the public. In the words of RLC Director Anwar Fazal, this new RLC Campus be a “befitting home for the 19 Right Livelihood Laureates based in South Asia”. The RLC global network is looking forward to many exciting synergies and research projects to result from the interaction of Laureates and students at the RLC Mumbai.
